What is Ori?

In the Yoruba tradition, your Ori is the divine self that lived before the world named you — the essence chosen before birth, carrying your destiny and your truest self. When life grows heavy, the Ori can become covered. Our work is to help you uncover it.

We are building a permanent home for ancestral healing — where ceremony, divination, herbal medicine, and community-held care restore what was severed.

The Land

Healing happens on sacred ground

Our home is an oak-canopied property in Topanga — with outdoor ceremony grounds, a guest cottage, a living herb garden, and a seasonal creek. The land holds 50 to 60 people for seasonal circles, collective rites, and the slow work of coming home.

IO
The Founder

Iya Oyawande

Founder · Ifa Practitioner & Somatic Healer

Iya Oyawande is the founder of ORI Wellness & Healing, a Yoruba ancestral wellness practice and community healing institution rooted on the land in Topanga, California. An Ifa practitioner and somatic healer with two decades of devoted practice, she was trained and initiated under Dr. Bankole Popoola Adekunle and Iya Ifashindara.

Her work weaves ancestral wisdom, somatic healing, and Yoruba herbal medicine into a community-centered framework — holding the tradition with deep reverence while making it accessible to all who come. She leads the ceremonies, the divination, and the overall vision of the practice.

Each of us carries an Ori — a divine self that existed before the world named us. Healing is the work of coming home to it.
